FarmVille is an online game on facebook that was created by Zynga. Zynga makes games on social networking sites that are accessible to every age group. Zynga was found in 2007 by Mark Pincus and is named after his late dog. Zynga's first game came out in September 2007 and was available on facebook. This was followed by Mafia Wars in 2008 and Farmville in June of 2009. Farmville became the first game to reach 10 million users a day on Facebook. Zynga describes FarmVille as a virtual way to "grow fruits and vegetables on your very own farm". However, Zynga creates it's games as a way for friends to interact and express their unique personalities online. FarmVille allows members of facebook to control a virtual farm by plowing land, planting, growing, harvesting crops, trees and by raising livestock. You can invite friends online and fertilize their fields in order to gain more virtual coin to finance your own farm. As of February 22, 2010 FarmVille has grown to become Facebook’s most popular application, with 20% of all users subscribing to it according to Tim Walker. The game is also available as an application on iPhones now.
